WrestleDream at Climate Pledge
The 2023 WrestleDream, a professional wrestling pay-per-view event, will be held today, October 1, 2023, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW), the event served as a tribute to the late Antonio Inoki, the founder of New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), on the one-year anniversary of his passing.
A total of fourteen matches took place during the event, with four matches occurring on the "Zero Hour" pre-show. In the main event, Christian Cage successfully defended the AEW TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a two-out-of-three falls match, winning by a score of 2-1.
Other notable matches included Bryan Danielson defeating Zack Sabre Jr., Swerve Strickland defeating "Hangman" Adam Page, and The Don Callis Family (Will Osprey, Konosuke Takeshita, and Sammy Guevara) emerging victorious against Chris Jericho and The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi). The opening contest saw MJF retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a 2-on-1 Handicap match against The Righteous (Dutch and Vincent).
An additional highlight of the event was the AEW debut of Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE. His appearance added excitement and anticipation among fans.
The 2023 WrestleDream was a memorable event that paid homage to Antonio Inoki while showcasing AEW's talented roster and providing thrilling matches for wrestling enthusiasts.
Several Seattle natives including Bryan Danielson, Darby Allin, Swerve Strickland, Aubrey Edwards, and Nick Wayne gave us an amazing Inaugural WrestleDream!
