Happy Halloween!!!
During Samhain, the Celts believed that the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred, allowing spirits to roam freely on Earth. To ward off these spirits, people would light bonfires and wear costumes to disguise themselves. It was also a time for divination and paying homage to deceased ancestors.
As time went on, Halloween evolved with the influence of various cultures and traditions. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows' Day. The night before, October 31st, became known as All Hallows' Eve, which eventually led to the name Halloween.
When Irish immigrants brought their Halloween customs to America in the 19th century, the holiday gained popularity and started to incorporate elements of other European traditions, such as trick-or-treating and carving jack-o'-lanterns.
Today, Halloween is celebrated in many countries around the world. It has become a fun and festive holiday where people dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating, attend parties, decorate their homes with spooky decorations, and indulge in tasty treats like candy and caramel apples.
