Be Aware of these 4 Common Scams
Stay vigilant and be aware of these 4 common scams we've outlined below. Tell loved ones about the latest scams and help them stay secure. You may help someone keep their money and personal information protected.
"I thought it was someone from the bank!"
Con artists are skilled deceivers. They will masquerade as family members, utility providers, or even well-known banks like Bank of America.
"They said I had an overdue bill."
Their aim is to provoke panic and impulsive reactions from you, preventing rational thinking. They may exploit your concern for a loved one, an overdue payment, or an irresistible bargain.
"She needed my account info right away."
Scammers are quick to demand your money. They will pressure you to send funds immediately, often through wire transfers or payment applications, making it difficult to recover the money once it's gone.
"He was so friendly."
Scammers often exploit social media to deceive unsuspecting individuals. They will attempt to befriend you, foster a relationship, and then present you with exclusive "insider" deals or get-rich-quick schemes.
Stay Ahead of Scammers
Scammers will not hesitate to steal your personal information, your hard-earned money, and even your identity. Don't let them!
- Avoid disclosing security codes, account information, or passwords/PINs to anyone. As a bank, they will never text or call you to request this information. Furthermore, only you should enter codes if prompted.
- Refrain from clicking on links in unsolicited emails or text messages.
- Verify any requests for money by directly contacting the relevant companies.
- Conduct independent research on sellers and deals found on social media before making any purchases.
